The (fantastic) Locust Street Dixieland Band, based out of Centralia, played here during an August wedding. Contact G.E. "Jerry" Mollerstuen at 360.736.5931 for more info/booking.
Our good friend, Marci had a surprise birthday party thrown in her honor on the farm this past Friday. Kiddos and adults alike were kept entertained in part due to inflatable attractions, which were rented through Party Outfitters, in Lacey *360.438.2211*. Happy Birthday, Marci!
Matt & Andrea tied the knot here on 7.7.07, and one unique feature of their wedding was homeade ice cream. I'll let the pictures do the explaining, but if you're interested in this type of service at your wedding, contact Lee Calkins (of Lee's Lineup) at 360.748.0219 or e-mail Lee at leesshop@compprime.com.
It's been a little over two weeks since Jason & I tied the knot (here on the farm, of course), and I wanted to share with you some of the wonderful people that made our wedding a memorable one.
* Dirty Thumb Nursery, conveniently located directly across the highway from Red Barn Studios, did all of our flowers. Connie managed to take a somewhat vague description of my thoughts on flowers and turn it into perfection. Connie can be reached at 360.748.3128.
* Santa Lucia Coffee Co. is to thank for our wedding favors. They prepared 1/2 lb. bags of their fresh roasted organic coffee for our guests to take home. Contact Justin or Lucy at 360.807.9600.
* Our friends, Sean & Leslie, of Seattle Parties Co. did the DJ work. Highly recommended, or course. Contact either of them at 206.533.8284.
* Finally, in Seattle lives a remarkable photographer, mentor, and dear friend named Daniel Sheehan, who we were fortunate enough to have shoot our wedding.
The most recent couple to get married in the barn hired us to shoot for their polaroid guest book. This was the result. The polaroids are 4.25 x 3.25 inches and you can opt for color or black & white. I think wedding guests would be thrilled to receive a shot of them as a favor too. For this purpose, we have folded paper frames that could be personalized. Please contact us for pricing info.
My personal photography website,www.lauriematanich.com, hasn't been getting quite the attention it once used to since I started shooting under Red Barn Studios. Nonetheless, the images were culminated from many years of working as a photographer and I'm glad I'm finally sharing them with you. Enjoy!
Jason's mom, Karen, was wonderful enough to spend the past 10 days here making the most of our apple supply (consisting of these varieties: King, Chehalis, William's Pride, Liberty, Gala, Fiji, and Translucent). Thanks to Karen, we have enough apple butter, apple cider, apple bread, apple cobbler, AND applesauce to get us through the winter!
Things have been pretty busy around here as of late (hence the absence of posts), but I'm glad we were able to spend a couple of hours at the annual Garlic Fest, which takes place only five miles away from the house. We caught the tail end of the three-day festival and consumed an obscene amount of sno-cones between the three of us. Oh, and since I'm on the topic of food, I have to mention how fantastic the catering was at Eric & Traci's wedding which took place Saturday, August 26. Famous Daves Barbeque is amazingly good. Yum.
I'm convinced these disposable pieces of dinnerware were created specifically for farm weddings. I love them...and they're great for the environment too!
These are some images taken from the 1930's of a barn being built in Boistfort Valley (about 12 miles away). Mr. Carlson, the builder, also built our barn and house. The barn is almost identical to ours, except this barn is currently in pretty bad shape. We'd love to find some old photos of our barn being built, but this might be as close as we can get.
As photographers, Jason and I want to share with you some of the fantastic photo-related products out there. Something I found to be very cool...personalized JONES SODA bottles. For a 12-pack (plus shipping/handling), you pay $34.95. Volume discounts are available.
Left, lemonade and hot apple cider. Center, placecards attached to rope with clothespins. Right, a bundle of wheat with terra cotta roses. Photographed by: Kimberlee Miller. Seen in Bride Magazine.
If you're looking for some super deals on candles (holders too), check out cudge. Great deals on items, although be sure to see what the shipping charges are, as they can get pretty high.
